Happy New Year - your moment of transcendence.

THE ART OF CREATING

Dear friend,

This is a special moment.

A new Year is a new beginning.

That’s why we celebrate it: It reminds us that the past is over.

We can always start anew.

We all have a second (third, fourth.... unlimited) chance in life.

It’s a moment of transcendence.

All it requires is a choice.

You are neither defined by your past,
nor bound to what you said, decided, failed at, or achieved yesterday.

You are free.

There are no obligations in life (other than what you chose to see as such).

That’s reality.

Now here is where many (I surely did) get hung up, especially around New Year.
You feel pushed and pressured into making commitments.

But commitment, in its literal sense, means obligating yourself to a goal and giving up your agency. There is no way this leads to intrinsic, long-term motivation. It’s often just a desperate attempt to cope with resistance and self-manipulate into change.

It’s a dead end and one of the main reasons that 92% of people's New Year resolutions fail, with only 1.2% of people actually achieving their goals. The other main reason is having wrong goals.

Sidenote: The key for goals that create long-term motivation

  1. Read this to understand what makes goals (dis-)empowering.
  2. Follow this simple process to fine-tune your goals & clarify what you truly want.

(Now, you can join the <0.1% of people that accomplish their goals in freedom. It's a great club, promised. 🤝 )

The Power of Choice

Choice, in its pure form, is transcendence.

A choice is recognizing your freedom to act or not to act.
By choosing, you recognize and engage your own agency: pursuing a goal, taking action, living your truth unconditionally (or not).

Choice is about aligning yourself with your deepest values and highest aspirations, regardless of what's gone wrong, or what you or others may think.

It’s what rips your heart wide open and cuts through self-limiting attachments to the past, to doubt and to fears.

It's about getting real with what you love.

And choosing your heart as your priority in life.

The ability of choice is in all of us.

Choice is our mechanism to (re-)align with our spirits.

There is no one path you are supposed to take.
There is only your path.

You can choose.

You can change.

You are free.

Happy New Year, my friend. ❤️🫶

SIMON RILLING THE ART OF CREATING Dear friend, my blessings to you and your family.❤️ Merry Christmas.🎄🤶 Oh but wait a minute... What does that even mean? Whats the point wishing that? You probably know: Christmas is not about church, presents, dinners, or even family time. (I'll add: It's not even about Christs birth.) So what is it about? "Merry Christmas" reminds us of the absolute truth of our being. Let me explain. The literal meaning of "Merry Christ-mas": Merry = joyful, high spirited....

SIMON RILLING THE ART OF CREATING Dear friend, "Nothing is certain except death and taxes?" (Benjamin Franklin) Not quite. (Taxes are voluntary, and death is a concept, but that's another story.) The only thing that's 100% certain: Nothing will stay the same. Change is the only constant. Here’s how to enjoy it, not fear it. No single moment is ever like the next. "Life is impermanent" – Buddha Life = Change Which leaves with this choice only: A) You fear and resist change: Most people do....

SIMON RILLING THE ART OF CREATING Dear friend, Do you know decision fatigue? Overwhelm? Analysis paralysis?Nothing is wrong with you. But your focus is. Let me explain. What's the one meta-skill that makes or breaks your life? Focus. "I'm constantly shifting focus.""I'm overwhelmed by options"."I don't know what decisions to take". Sound familiar? You either wilfully force decisions — or timidly avoid them. You cope instead of acting strategically from your natural rhythm. Why? Because you...
