Merry Christmas - it's not what you think.

THE ART OF CREATING

Dear friend,

my blessings to you and your family.❤️

Merry Christmas.🎄🤶

Oh but wait a minute...
What does that even mean? Whats the point wishing that?

You probably know: Christmas is not about church, presents, dinners, or even family time. (I'll add: It's not even about Christs birth.)

So what is it about?

"Merry Christmas" reminds us of the absolute truth of our being.

Let me explain.

The literal meaning of "Merry Christ-mas":

  • Merry = joyful, high spirited.
  • Christ (from greek christos) = anointed one; incarnation of the God-man.
  • Mas (from latin missa) = the call to leave the church service (Mass) and live one’s faith in the world.

No, this email is not about religion and rituals. But about the gold beneath.

What was Christ really about?

Not about Christianity.

He opposed belief systems, doctrines, and external authorities, whether money, government, or religion. (Christianity only exists because nobody listens to Christ.)

He was about the “merry news”:

You are free. You are divine. You are joy itself.

Not as a concept or belief. But as reality itself:
Absolutely tangible, and directly realizable at any moment.

One of Christ's remarkable quotes points us there:

“Before Abraham was, I am."

Our conditioned minds struggle to get that; or interpret it as divinity reserved for one being. That's not the point.

The point is universal.

  • We all are.
  • You are.
  • I am.

That's the gold.

What we fundamentally are is one, undivided awareness. Eternal presence. I AM.

You are not your story. Not broken. Not your successes or failures. Not your soul, body, job, mind, emotions, traumas, or even your most ecstatic experiences.

Those are things you have.

What you are is beyond all of them, untainted by experience.
The core of our being is transcending time, space and personal identity.

That self-recognition reveals the truth and bliss of your being.

That realization is always accessible, because it is NOT tied to conditions, or achievements. (The exception: Addiction to concepts and ideologies.)

Christ’s message: There is no intermediary between you and divinity.

By all means, go to church if you enjoy it. Community is beautiful.
But don't be fooled into thinking that is where the merry news lives.

It lives through you.

Your being is bliss.

That’s the blunt truth.

Joy is your very existence.

Christmas happens at the darkest time of the year, when nature turns inward. Turning within is what Christ pointed to. Our pagan ancestors understood this. They celebrated the solstice.

So yes, celebrate. Eat. Enjoy. Gift presents 😄.
Just don't get lost in the consumption spectacle society has made of Christmas.

"Merry Christmas" is the invitation to return to yourself.

What's wrong is searching for joy outside. In beliefs, ideologies, religion, consumption, achievement, conflict, or endless problem fixing.

Let go of the outside world for a moment.

Attune to your self.

That is where joy lives.

The merry news is simple.

You are it.

Merry Christmas ❤️
Simon

PS:

If you know what I'm talking about. Fantastic!
If you're thinking wtf is he taking about? Fantastic!

You are in the right place.

Over the last years, the truth became more and more apparent.

While I know far less than I thought, I know a few things about what matters most in life.

That's why creating spaces for self-recognition (discovering who you are) and self-actualization (unconditionally living your truth) is dear to my heart.

You might call it an obsession or passion or simply love.

And I can't help but it's growing...

While this year I wasn't very active online (very few newsletters and podcasts), momentum kept building in its own beautiful way.

The 2 core dilemmas I see over and over again:

Most have absolutely zero idea about who they are.

  1. They hustle, fight, compete, fix, seek, or simply give up on life.
  2. Symptoms: Emptiness, restlessness, chronic stress and disconnection.
  3. Result: Life is an eternal struggle.

Some get a glimpse (or profound self-recgnition) but struggle to live it unconditionally and embody it with ease and joy in a fucked up society.

  1. They stay dependant (sanghas, modalities, teachers, plant medicine...), resent, revolt or submit to our western dysfunctional society, doubt their inner knowing and hide their true aspirations.
  2. Symptoms: Dissociation, disconnection, internal split, rational mind dominates heart.
  3. Result: Peak experiences become (nice) memories, bliss is reduced to the meditation cushion.

While I'm on this professional journey for 6 years, it feels like I'm only getting started.

And I'm excited to help you even more effectively. (I got wonderful opportunities for you in my 2026 pipeline).

As this year my niche became evident:

  1. Creating immersions where you can EXPERIENCE the beauty of your true nature. (Our retreat in Tulum this December was one of these precious life changing moments).
  2. Facilitating the INTEGRATION of peak experiences in daily life and the ACCOMPLISHMENT of your highest aspirations.

It's a possibilty for everyone that wants.

If that's you, hit reply, and let's have a chat.

Merry Christmas ❤️
Simon

SIMON RILLING THE ART OF CREATING Dear friend, This is a special moment. A new Year is a new beginning. That’s why we celebrate it: It reminds us that the past is over. We can always start anew. We all have a second (third, fourth.... unlimited) chance in life. It’s a moment of transcendence. All it requires is a choice. You are neither defined by your past, nor bound to what you said, decided, failed at, or achieved yesterday. You are free. There are no obligations in life (other than what...

SIMON RILLING THE ART OF CREATING Dear friend, "Nothing is certain except death and taxes?" (Benjamin Franklin) Not quite. (Taxes are voluntary, and death is a concept, but that's another story.) The only thing that's 100% certain: Nothing will stay the same. Change is the only constant. Here’s how to enjoy it, not fear it. No single moment is ever like the next. "Life is impermanent" – Buddha Life = Change Which leaves with this choice only: A) You fear and resist change: Most people do....

SIMON RILLING THE ART OF CREATING Dear friend, Do you know decision fatigue? Overwhelm? Analysis paralysis?Nothing is wrong with you. But your focus is. Let me explain. What's the one meta-skill that makes or breaks your life? Focus. "I'm constantly shifting focus.""I'm overwhelmed by options"."I don't know what decisions to take". Sound familiar? You either wilfully force decisions — or timidly avoid them. You cope instead of acting strategically from your natural rhythm. Why? Because you...
